Giovanni Borg is a common Maltese name which makes researching this ancestor hard. In electoral registers, there are at least 20 such names listed and there’s no way of telling if he’s one of them, or which one he is.
This person is one of my paternal 3 x great-grandfathers.
He was the son of Salvatore Borg1 and Maddalena née Calleja2.
His parents married in Attard, so it’s possible he was born there. Other online sources suggest he was born in Mosta. I have no clear information suggesting one over the other.
I have no further information about his birth.

Family
On Tuesday 24th November 18573, he married Maria née Camilleri4 in the parish church of St Paul Shipwrecked5 in Valletta. Fr Giorgios Magri officiated6.
As far as I can tell, they had only one child:
Notable events
Residence
Giovanni lived in Valletta for part of his life. When he married, the church registry lists him as living in the parish of St Paul Shipwrecked7. His son was born there8 so he lived there for at least another year.
Occupation
In 1882, Giovanni was described as a Trafficante (EN: Trader) on his son’s wedding certificate9. I have no evidence of what he traded in.
Death
I have no indication of when he died, or what he died of. I know he was still alive in 1887 when his grandson was born10.
Since his son lived in Valletta, I conclude Giovanni continued living there till death.
