Keeping things in the family must have been important for Generosa; she was the daughter of the consul of England and married another consul.

She is one of my maternal 7 x great-grandmothers.

I don’t have a clear birth date for Generosa, but given her marriage details, it’s likely she was born early in the 18th century. It’s not clear where she was born, but since her parents lived in Valletta, it’s likely to be there¹.

She was the daughter of John Jacob Watts² and Aloisea Camilleri de Modica³.

Family

She married Alexander Young⁴. I do not have a clear indication of when this took place. It is likely this took place in Valletta, if it happened in Malta.

Given her husband’s profession, and Maltese life at the time, it’s likely she lived her entire life in Valletta.

Curiosities

It’s interesting to see that records show there was a Generosa “Vuaz”⁵ born to a Giovanni Giacomo⁶ and Aloisetta⁷ in Valletta⁸, but in 1652⁹. The combination of 3 uncommon christian names, and a possible phonetical spelling of Watts makes this an interesting coincidence. It cannot be her, however, because this would mean that she was almost 60 when she gave birth to her daughter Aloisia.

Death

She was still alive in 1738 at the time of her daughter’s marriage¹⁰.
