As a relative unknown in history, there is very little to say about Enguerrand who may or may not have been a Count of Paris.

This person is my 33 x great-grandfather.

Enguerrand was born sometime between 740 and 7501 and it’s likely he was born in modern-day Belgium. He is the son of Sigramnus and Landrada1.

Titles

It’s possible he held the title of Count of Paris because some documents allude to this. There is no clear source stating this to be the case1.

It is also possible he held the title of Count of Hesbaye because his daughter is Ermengarde of Hesbaye. I have not found a clear source for this, but his daughter is well documented because she was Emperor Louis’ wife, which makes this fact likely. Also, it’s probable Emperor Louis would have married someone of noble birth which further suggests Enguerrand held titles.

Family

He married a woman called Rotrud1. It is not clear who she was but if Enguerrand was a count, then we can conclude Rotrud came from a well-to-do family.

Together they had one child1:

  • Ermengard, born sometime between 775 and 780.

Death

There is no information about when or where he died, or where they buried him.

Lineage

This person is my 33 x great-grandfather.
