There is almost no information about Count Berengar’s wife. She is simply known as someone’s daughter and someone else’s wife.
This person is my 29th x great-grandmother.
She was born in the mid-9th century since she was a mother by 872. She is the daughter of Pepin the Carolingian and his wife, also unnamed1. Since Pepin was a count near Paris, it is likely she was born there.
Titles
As the daughter of a Count, and the grand-daughter of a King of Italy, it is possible she held one of her family’s titles. It is also likely she was a Countess of Bayeaux because she married a Count. I have found no evidence of these, or any, titles.
Family
She married Count Berengar of Bayeaux at some point1. No records show when they married, but since her daughter was born in 872, I posit she must have married a bit before.
Together they had one child1:
- Popa, or Poppa, who married Rollo the Viking, her husband’s killer.
Popa was born in Évreux2 which shows that the family were based, or living there, at the time.
Death
I have not found any evidence showing when, why or where she died.
Since Rollo the Viking killed her husband after plundering his way through northern France, it is possible she died as a result of the battle. This is my own hypothesis, and I have no evidence for it.
Lineage
This person is my 29th x great-grandmother.
